The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Colonel General Ruslan Khomchak spoke of the risks of a possible offensive to retake the Donbass occupied by Russia.

“We just have to be aware then of all the consequences, of the forces and capabilities, of the reserves, of the state’s current readiness for an advance and of the consequences. Because if we advance today, we [must] understand that Donetsk is a city of several million, “he said in an interview with Alesia Batsman for the Batsman program, according to the Gordon media.

He warned of huge civilian casualties.

“They are Ukrainians, they are [civilian] people. What will international humanitarian law say? After evaluating all these factors, these risks … Who will oppose us? If we fight today with those who are there, of course we have a lot of chances to achieve the goal. But we know who will be against us … We saw it in 2014, “he said.
