For the first time since Ukraine acquired Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aerial vehicle reconnaissance and strike, one of them engaged an enemy target in the joint forces area of ââoperation.
This is according to a Facebook post from the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Ukrinform reports.
“Today, October 26, by order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Lt. Gen. Valery Zaluzhnyi, the Bayraktar reconnaissance and strike drone was used for the first time in the area of ââoperation joint forces, âthe statement said.
It should be noted that from 2:25 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. local time, a battery of D-30 howitzers with Russian terrorist forces fired at the positions of the Joint Forces in the Hranitne region.
Two Ukrainian soldiers were injured in the bombing, one of whom later succumbed to his injuries. With the start of the bombing, Ukraine immediately requested through OSCE SMM that the enemy cease firing, and a note was sent through diplomatic channels. However, the invaders offered no reaction to the effort.
“In order to force the enemy to cease fire, on the order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Bayraktar was used. The UAV did not cross the line of contact and destroyed a cannon with a guided bomb. ‘artillery with the crew of the Russian occupation forces,’ the statement said.
After the strike, the bombardment of Ukrainian positions stopped.
As Ukrinform reported earlier this month, all obstacles to the production of Turkish Bayraktar TB2 strike drones in Ukraine have been lifted, according to Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
The Ukrainian Defense Ministry and Turkey’s Baykar Savunma signed a cooperation protocol on September 29.
