Ukrainian defense giant UkrOboronOrom has announced that it has completed the delivery of improved T-72 main battle tanks to the Ukrainian armed forces.
The last batch of six improved T-72 main battle tanks was delivered on March 4, the company said, according to DefenseBlog.
“These T-72 tanks are the result of rethinking the experience of modern warfare in eastern Ukraine,” said Volodymyr Sinyavsky, acting director of the SE Kyiv Armored Plant. “We have comprehensively approached the repair and have significantly improved the tactical and technical characteristics of the vehicles so that they can better perform the combat missions of the Ukrainian defenders.”

The upgraded version of the T-72 is equipped with additional Reactive Explosive Armor (ERA) Nizh (knife) mounted on the arrowhead-shaped turret and other cassettes laid flat on the sides of the hull.
The tank is equipped with improved 1K13 sights for firing Ukrainian-made Kombat guided missiles, new night visors with third-generation electron-optic converters, and more powerful motors boosting power to 840 hp, from the previous 780 hp.
New digital radio stations from the Turkish company Aselsan allow tank crews to maintain direct contact with infantry units, which is of great importance for interaction on the battlefield. In addition, the T-72 modification received modern satellite navigation equipment. Another aspect of modernization is improving the crew environment. Even an ordinary reversing camera makes the driver’s job much easier.
