The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Lt. Gen. Valeriy Zaluzhny, met with the Co-Chairs of the Joint Multinational Commission on Military Cooperation and Defense Reform, whose work is characterized by a systematic approach to planning of support to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, reported the press service of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
“We are facing serious challenges and we are overcoming them. At the same time, the Ukrainian armed forces ensure the repression of armed aggression, the reform of the military component of the state and the acquisition of military criteria for it. ‘NATO membership,’ Zaluzhny told the meeting.
He noted that the priorities remain unchanged: complete the process of transforming the system of joint command of the defense forces and military management, an automated control system as the main component of this transformation, complete the sharing of responsibilities between the Ministry of Defense, the Commander-in-Chief and General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, reforming personnel management and military education systems.
Zaluzhny also noted that Slovakia has also joined the Multinational Joint Commission, which opens up new opportunities to strengthen cooperation. He congratulated on this occasion the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic, General Stefan Kovacs.
The new Ukrainian co-chair of the Multinational Joint Commission, the Chief of General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Lieutenant-General Serhiy Shaptala, was introduced at the meeting.
