Russian propaganda spreads false information about the “tuberculosis epidemic” in the Ukrainian army

Pro-Russian telegram channels broadcast false reports of a “sharp deterioration of the epidemiological situation” in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

It is according to Center for the fight against disinformation in the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, reports Ukrinform.

“Russia is seeking to sow panic among Ukrainian defenders, including using fake news that an outbreak of tuberculosis has started in the Ukrainian military,” the statement said.

In particular, propagandists claim that Ukrainian doctors “cannot determine the exact cause of the epidemic, but are inclined to two options for a massive epidemic: the recruitment of reservists and unexamined territorial defense fighters, and the active conscription in the ranks of the armed forces.”

Referring to an undisclosed source from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the propagandists claim that “the level of health losses due to tuberculosis is more than 10% of the personnel, and many servicemen are very sick and have to be evacuated”.

The Center for Combating Disinformation warns that the information disseminated by pro-Russian resources is false and was created for the sole purpose of demoralizing and creating panic among the military.

As Ukrinform reported, Kremlin propagandists have launched a disinformation campaign claiming that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are “hiding” information about fallen Ukrainian defenders.
