Maximus Air (Abu Dhabi Int’l) has been awarded AED 1.79 billion (USD 487 million) contract with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Defense to purchase an unknown number of cargo planes .
Once delivered, the freighters will be used for commercial purposes.
According to the Gulf Times, the order is one of ten orders worth AED6.91 billion ($ 1.9 billion) awarded by the United Arab Emirates armed forces at the international exhibition on arms and defense conference currently underway in Abu Dhabi.
Operating out of Abu Dhabi Int’l since 2005, Maximus Air specializes in the transportation of oversized and specialized air cargo, including dangerous goods, live animals, VIPs and humanitarian flights. Its fleet includes an An-124-100 and an Il-76TD.
