J2 Spotlight Musical Theater Company announces the 2022 season


J2 Spotlight Musical Theater Company has announced an exciting lineup of three musicals for its second season. Season 2022, which will run from February 10 to March 20, 2022 at Theater Row (410 West 42nd Street – between 9th and Dyer Avenues), will feature A Class Act, A Day in Hollywood / A Night in the Ukraine and The Baker’s Wife.

“On behalf of the entire J2 Spotlight Musical Theater Company, we couldn’t be more excited to return to the theater with the vibrant, fun and comprehensive entertainment season we have planned for this year,” said Jimirro and Schneider in a statement. “We are grateful to the crowd who joined us for our inaugural season and look forward to welcoming them again, along with many new friends, as we embark on another ambitious season.

The 2022 season begins with the Linda kline and Lonny’s Price (book) and Edouard Kléban (music and lyrics) The Tony Award-nominated musical A Class Act (February 10-20), continues with Franck Lazare (music) and Dick Vosburgh‘s (book and lyrics) nominated for a Tony A Day in Hollywood / A Night in the Ukraine (February 24 – March 6) and ends with Stephen schwartz (music and lyrics) and Joseph stein‘s (book) celebrated the musical The Baker’s Wife (March 10 – 20).

The creative teams and cast for the 2022 season will be announced in the coming weeks.

J2 Spotlight Musical Theater Company presents professional covers of Broadway-worthy musicals; in doing so, it offers customers the opportunity to re-watch these shows and, in some cases, experience them for the first time. The Company chooses the exhibitions it deems worthy of continuous exposure. The company, as part of its casting, will present to the public emerging artists within the New York theater community. The productions will include frequent lagniappes designed to enhance the public’s appreciation of classical works. Honorary Board members include Lynn ahrens, Jim Brochu, Pierre Filichia, Stephen flaherty, Randy Graff, La Chanze, Donna McKechnie, Mel Miller, James morgan, Lonny’s Price, Ken page, Robbie rozelle, Stephen schwartz, and Allyson tucker-Mitchell.

In A Class Act, Ed Kléban, the Tony Award-winning A Chorus Line lyricist and one of Broadway’s unsung champions, returns to his own memorial service to set the record straight in this vibrant musical about musicals. A colorful gallery of friends and loved ones in Ed’s life, including the relentless peppy Marvin hamlisch and stage assistant Michael bennett all seem to celebrate Ed’s life, loves and legacy. Songs include: “Better”, “Paris Through The Window” and “The Next Best Thing To Love”.

A Class Act is being presented under a special arrangement with R&H Theatricals.

A day in Hollywood / A night in Ukraine

February 24, 25, 26 and March 3, 4, 5 at 7:30 p.m.

February 27 and March 6 at 3:00 p.m.

A Day In Hollywood / A Night in the Ukraine features two one-act musicals that deliver a more hilarious double film than any seen in the heyday of Hollywood: the premiere, a tribute to the golden age of comedy musical; the second, an exuberant farce of the Marx Brothers. With songs such as “Just Go To The Movies”, “Nelson” and “Doin ‘The Production Code”.

A Day In Hollywood / A Night in the Ukraine is presented on special arrangement with Concorde theaters.

The baker’s wife

In The Baker’s Wife, the inhabitants of a rural village in 1935 in Provence, France, have been without a baker for seven weeks. They finally find peace and content with the new baker, Aimable, and his young and attractive wife, Geneviève. However, when Geneviève is attracted to a handsome young gigolo, the middle-aged baker loses all taste for life and baking. When he refuses to cook, the villagers must work as a team to reunite Aimable and Geneviève. Songs include: “Meadowlark”, “Proud Lady” and “Where Is The Warmth?

The Baker’s Wife is presented in special arrangement with Music Theater International (MTI).
